Update 01/01/2021: Well, I’m not sure that I should be surprised. I really liked the $14 sustain pedal, but it started to flake out on me after only a couple months of use. As such, I decided to try some of the other pedals from DX Engineering, and I’ve landed on this one pictured to the right. It is absolutely fantastic. Heavy, doesn’t move and is a joy to use. I highly recommend it.

I’m not sure where it was, but somewhere I saw that another ham was using an inexpensive electronic piano sustain pedal as a PTT footswitch for his radios. I’ve been using a DXE footswitch, and before that one from Heil. Both were “ok”, I guess, but they skate around and you can’t really rest your foot on it without keying the radio inadvertently sometimes.
Today this guy (amazon link) showed up, and it’s pretty great. So far for $14 I love it. We’ll see how it holds up.
